A LUCID DREAM

Imagine a jewellery brand that treats customers fairly, without the burden of hefty markups, and the creators behind the brand live comfortable, modest lives. Picture artisans being paid justly for their craftsmanship, and envision a company that treads lightly on the Earth. Even better, what if the enduring quality of each piece was guaranteed, breaking the cycle of trendy, disposable jewellery and embracing timeless pieces that bring lasting joy?

Victoria:  Mama, ultra runner and recovering people pleaser

Origin story

Our founder, Victoria, was born in Northern Ireland, raised in Scotland and has spent almost twenty years living in Belgium. Her children speak with a curious accent – a blend of Irish (from her husband), Scottish, Flemish (from school) and American (regretfully, from Youtube). Victoria’s story is a rich tapestry containing a narrative about never being completely at home because her heart is with people who live in different places. And yet, away from familiarity, Victoria has woven her own sense of belonging – which has included working as a Buyer for some of the biggest clothing brands in Europe, to Head of Marketing for a collective of outlets.

A big jewellery fan, Victoria's passion really peaked during covid when, like many, jewellery became a fun 'pick me up'. However, Victoria had one big frustration with the jewellery world and that was the limited options. In Victoria's mind, there were only two experiences to be had. The first takes place in high end jewellery stores and involves feeling intimidated as you ring a bell for entry or embarassment when you ask the price. While the second experience is the more accessible highstreet but can involve jewellery that turns your skin green and breaks on the first wear.

With Victoria’s experience, she set out to create a jewellery brand that would follow a different path. A sweet spot in the middle, if you like. A brand that could ensure affordability whilst still promising quality. A celebration of jewellery that could be worn everyday and a debunking of the idea that jewellery should be 'saved for good'. No white gloves needed, instead Victoria sought to offer total access to jewellery made for life. Better still, Victoria had a vision to respect the planet through the use of recycled and widely available materials, and to guarantee the durability of all workmanship to all the community. And it was with this dream to offer everyday jewellery, made with meaning, that LUCID was born.

A note from our founder

This is a true story about becoming who you were always meant to be.  LUCID was sparked by my own children – Sebastian and Amélie. Both very different, they are true spirits throbbing with their own signatures and one of my most important roles as their mama is protecting their individuality. Yet, as I navigate their childhoods’ alongside them, I see the world trying to mould them into the version it expects them to be, and I think, remorsefully, of all the times I also diluted myself to blend in.

THESE MOMENTS OF LUCIDITY HAVE CHALLENGED UNIFORM NOTIONS OF SELF AND THE START OF A JOURNEY WHERE I AM LEARNING IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO BECOME WHO YOU MIGHT HAVE BEEN.

With LUCID, I invite you to also enjoy new expressions of individuality as a way to honour your own unique signature.  And, if we can tell our story in a way that has a positive impact to people and planet, then we ensure the stories of the generations who follow long after Sebastian and Amélie are grown.

Our mission is to craft beautiful, affordable jewellery that you can wear every day, with the assurance that it didn't cost the earth. (2).png__PID:4ea28c30-f514-4199-a6d7-ee2e56185f71
